Persimmon has completed a deal to purchase more land at the Cranbook new town near Exeter.
The housebuilder’s South West division has purchased land with outline planning permission to deliver up to 1,435 new homes on the site, parts of which will also be marketed under sister brands Charles Church and Westbury Homes should further planning consent be awarded.
The business sought approval to conclude the land assembly which began in 2023. Persimmon had acquired land from two owners and this latest agreement means the balance of the site has been purchased from the remaining owners.
The Cranbrook Expansion to the East of Persimmon’s existing Galileo 7 Development forms part of a new neighbourhood for up to 1,435 new homes and ancillary land uses, and a substantial area of open space totalling around 30 hectares.
A detailed application is expected to be submitted early in the new year, with an ambition to start on-site at the end of 2025.
Currently, the wider Cranbrook development is forecast to deliver 1,058 private homes and up to 196 affordable homes to be delivered through the S106 Agreement; plus up to 52 self-build homes.
It follows recent donations to local organisations in the area through the five-star builder’s Community Champions scheme which promotes good causes, including Cranbrook Town Council, Broadclyst Parish Council, Cranbrook FC and Broadclyst FC.

Cranbrook is currently one of several Persimmon developments across the South West, with sites in Exeter, Cullompton, Dawlish, Newton Abbot, Paignton, and Yeovil.
