Miller Homes acquires land for new housing near Evesham

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Miller Homes is a step closer to adding 98 new homes to the Worcestershire village of Badsey after completing the purchase of an 8.67-acre land parcel.
The land has already been earmarked for the development of residential housing by Wychavon District Council, with outline planning consent granted for the scheme. Miller Homes will shortly submit its detailed planning application to bring forward its proposals for the land and deliver new housing to the area.
The housebuilder, whose West Midlands region is based in nearby Worcester, will build 39 of the homes as affordable housing, of which 10 will be sold through the First Homes scheme, backed by the government to support first-time homeowners to step onto the property ladder.
Miller Homes will pay around £800,000 via a Section 106 agreement as part of its planning permission for the development, to support local infrastructure and services in and around the Badsey village area.
Darren Humphreys, managing director of Miller Homes West Midlands, said: “We are really pleased to have secured the right to deliver sustainable new housing in Badsey following this land purchase which marks the next phase of growth for the West Midlands region of Miller Homes.”
“The site benefits from outline planning consent which we plan to bring through to market as soon as we can, with a well thought out scheme of high-quality new housing which will complement its existing surroundings in Badsey and create new, energy-efficient homes for residents in the area.”
“Our development, which we will call Badsey Gardens, will deliver up to 98 new homes, of which 39 will be sold on the affordable homes market, with 10 of those benefiting from the First Homes scheme, enabling would-be homeowners to finally make that step on the property ladder which otherwise wouldn’t be possible.”
“As with all Miller Homes developments, we put people at the heart of everything we do, and Badsey Gardens will be no different, with the creation of employment opportunities through the construction phase of the site, and our S106 contributions back into local services for both new and existing residents to benefit from.”
“We will now move forward to submit our detailed planning application for the development, with a view to starting on site in spring 2024 and completing our first homes on the site by the end of the calendar year.”
All of the homes to be built by Miller Homes will feature electric vehicle charging points, as part of the developer’s wider sustainability plan for the site.
The housebuilder plans to release its first homes for sale at Badsey Gardens in autumn 2024, subject to planning approval and construction work starting at the development.
