The purpose-built homes are under construction and due to open in April and June next year respectively, according to a filing announcing the deal on Monday.
Anchor previously acquired five homes from Hadrian Healthcare in 2019. The latest deal comes after Anchor revealed in July this year that it had agreed to acquire 11 more care homes through its £59m acquisition of Leeds-based Halcyon Care Homes.
The moves are part of a growth strategy now being led by Anchor’s new chief executive, Sarah Jones, who took over from the long-serving boss Jane Ashcroft last month.
Ms Jones said: “We’ve set out a clear strategy for growth in our business plan, and this latest announcement shows how we’re realising those aspirations to provide more homes where people love living in later life and to create more opportunities for people to find a fulfilling career working in the social care sector.” Once the two latest deals complete, Anchor will own 127 care homes. The landlord also operates around 35,500 socially rented homes and 12,500 leasehold homes.
Last month, Anchor reported it had bounced back into the black after a £12m deficit the year before due to interest and financing costs.
